| Review: At last - a clear guide to communication without
the gimmick.
This book has become an invaluable guide in our training department,
where we were having to take a "one size fits all" approach to dealing
with individuals with diverse needs due to the cost of sending our team
on expensive networking and communications training - none of which
covered the broad range of issues we needed. Tizzard's style is
refreshingly staighforward and non-jargonistic, without being
patronising. The layout lent itself well to my flick and find method of
researching (hurrah) and has obviously been written by a seasoned
practitioner as well as intelligent theoretician. (from a reviewer at

Review: No quicker way of bringing a spark to your training sessions. When designing your training sessions one of the keys to success is hooking in your delegates straight away. This pocketbook may be small, but is crammed with excellent ideas on how to grab the group and set the scene. Unlike other icebreaker books I've seen, the authors of this one have gone one step further and grouped them under common course headings. So under "Communication" there are 10 activities for you to choose from! (from another reviewer at Amazon.co.uk) |

Review: I have
applied its message to almost all of my programmes in the 3
months that I've had it. Every single programme is approx 40%
shorter, I've been able to build the courses more quickly, the energy levels are through the roof, and the
learners' responses have been fantastic. If ever you are going to
spend £22 on a book related to training & development, this is
it! Plus, it's FUN!

| Synopsis: John Adair has transformed the understanding of how leadership works with his pioneering book "Not Bosses But Leaders". Now he returns with a new title that explores in an authoritative way exactly what we know about leadership and leadership development. There is a revolution underway. We are moving - rapidly in some areas, slower in others - from management to business leadership. As the market for good leaders who can achieve results increases, so-called leadership development programmes have proliferated. Many of these are old management development programmes renamed, and others are full of confusing theories and unproductive approaches. This ground-breaking new book aims to set the record straight. It looks at the body of knowledge on leadership, identifies the seven key principles of leadership development, and answers key questions on how to select, train and educate leaders at the level of team, operational and strategic leadership. A vital addition to the debate on leadership from a true expert, this book also considers the global challenge and long term issues involved. (See the excellent reviews at amazon.co.uk) |
Synopsis:
This handbook pulls together for the first time both the theory and the
practice of experiential learning and all types of learning that employ
activity-based experience. Based on sound theoretical underpinning, and
making full use of examples and guidance for successful implementation,
"Experiential Learning" enables readers to unlease some of the more
potent ingredients of learning through experience. "Everything that can
possibly provide, or affect, a learning experience, is discussed: most
theories of learning, and every conceivable way to interest learners in
an activity...Even very accomplished developers who prepare learning
experiences for all types of learners, from grade level classes through
executive seminars can undoubtedly find many ideas to expand the design
options upon which they can draw." - "Leadership and Organisational
Development Journal," previously known as "The Power of Experiential
Learning." (Amazon.co.uk)
